NAB 2016: Barnfind Shows Power of Fiber With Expanded BarnOne Line
As the sports-video industry buzzes about IP workflows, Barnfind Technologies (Booth N902) is showing off the power a single strand of fiber can possess with a demo and the launch of additions to the BarnOne family of products.
At its booth in the North Hall, Barnfind has partnered with Ikegami to run a live camera feed from Ikegami’s Central Hall location. With a camera and CCU at each end, Barnfind is demonstrating the ability to control and see all signals over just one fiber line.
“That’s the central message we’re trying to take out to the sports environment,” says John Brendle, director of technology, Barnfind Americas. “You can do a lot more over one fiber than simply have just that one camera feed or that one signal. We want to make sure people are versed in the density and the fact that you move a lot of the operations that previously had to be completely onsite further up the chain.”
According to Brendle, there’s strong interest in SMPTE 2022-6, and sports broadcasters are looking for ways to do uncompressed signals as far along the chain as they can.
On the product end, Barnfind has launched BTF1-10, which offers an eight-channel embedder and de-embedder for analog audio. The frame includes the standard main board with 16 x SFP ports and 8 x BNC top board and offer the same functionality as other members of the BarnOne family. The BTF1-10 has a built-in SDI generator that can be used as the audio carrier and/or test picture.
In addition, the company debuted the new BarnMin-05, BarnMini-06, BarnMini-11, and BarnMini-12.
