IBC 2016: Broadcast Pix completes acquisition of ioGates
Broadcast Pix has completed its acquisition of ioGates, an innovator in cloud-based video production. Prior to the acquisition, the two companies partnered to develop the new BPNet cloud-based IP media workflow and storage system, which will be demonstrated at IBC 2016 (Stand 7.B21) Sept. 9-13 at RAI Amsterdam.
ioGates has provided web-based video management tools since 2003, and has developed a suite of tools uniquely designed to simplify media workflows. Its solutions have attracted a worldwide customer base in a number of vertical markets, including film and television production, education, military, and sports venues. The ioGates team will continue to sell and support its popular services as part of Broadcast Pix.
“IP has been a part of the Broadcast Pix strategy for almost a decade, and our acquisition of ioGates underscores our commitment to cloud-based video production workflows over IP networks,” says Kevin Prince, Broadcast Pix CEO. “With the architects of BPNet now part of the Broadcast Pix team, we will continue to provide cloud-based solutions for our customers and lead the innovation in this emerging market.”
Accessed through a browser-based interface, the BPNet production ecosystem is a comprehensive service for creating, sharing, distributing, and archiving content. Designed to meet the video, control, and data needs of live, post, and other creative productions, BPNet eliminates complex formatting and FTP issues that create technological barriers and limit productivity.
At IBC, Broadcast Pix will show how BPNet allows key contributors to share clips, graphics, data, and other assets seamlessly within the Broadcast Pix live production environment. Another demonstration will show the system’s extensive capabilities for subscription-based clients who do not own a Broadcast Pix switcher. BPNet is included with Broadcast Pix integrated production switchers equipped with the new Version 6.0 software, and is available as a free upgrade for system currently under warranty. Additional options and storage are available on a subscription basis.
