BBC Sport Recruits Broadcast Services International for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics
Broadcast Services International has been awarded the contract to provide design and facility services to BBC Sport for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
BSI is excited to be working with the BBC again. Over its thirty-year history BSI has provided technical services for clients during both Summer and Winter Games. With 2020 being a year of disruption for the broadcast landscape, which has moved the Summer and Winter Games back-to-back, it will be a critical time for the sports broadcasting industry. BSI took this into consideration to ensure that new processes would be implemented to meet project timelines during an era of COVID-19.
There are phases within a project of this scale that now need to be considered differently and require tailored workflows. BSI recognized this and looked at elements such as onsite requirements and facility pre-inspections, that would pose unique challenges. To help address these issues BSI has contracted dB Broadcast UK to assist in key integration deliverables that would have typically required travel and a series of onsite assessments.
“These are critical times that require out-of-the-box thinking and great partners to ensure that production elements that are impacted by this pandemic can still be managed simply and successfully, while providing a seamless project for our clients,” says Jim Eady, CEO of Broadcast Services International. “After our initial conversations with dB Broadcast, we quickly realized that with their integration background paired with BSI’s design and on-site technical experience, it would be a great relationship that would add value for the BBC and the overall success of the project.”
Broadcast Services International is also concurrently working on projects in Tokyo, Qatar, and Bermuda.
